Hotels Showing Puppy Love on International Dog Day

Being a dog lover is a 24/7/365 thing, but the annual International Dog Day on August 26 gives everyone – including hotel companies – an excuse to recognize the canine companions in our lives. More hotels than ever are pup-friendly, and for International Dog Day, a couple of hotel companies are creating tail-wagging fun and rolling out the red carpet for dog’s and their owners on the move.

Fairmont Hotels’ Paw-some Pampering

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts are renowned for their pet-friendly policies. Fairmont’s popular resident hotel dog program in over a dozen hotels in North America, Canine Ambassadors, provides an extra special comfort of home by greeting guests in the lobby, accompanying them on walks, and filling in whenever travellers are missing their own furry friends.

The luxury hotel chain also welcomes furry companions with open arms at locations across North America. And in celebration of International Dog Day Fairmont is shining a spotlight on their personalized pet amenities and services that ensure both pets and their owners enjoy a truly pampered stay.

Paws and Pinot: Discovering Doggie Bliss at Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa in the heart of California Wine Country

Four-legged friends enjoy plush bedding, water and food bowls, special treats, and a customized Bone Appetit menu that includes healthy entrees like “Chicken Chow” or “Dog Day Afternoon.” Custom Pet Portraits are available with a local artist. The resort also provides access to scenic walking paths and nearby pet-friendly attractions, ensuring both guests and their pets can enjoy the beautiful surroundings together.

Fancy Dog Room Service at Boston’s Fairmont Copley Plaza

Dog parents can book the hotel’s signature Fairmont Furiend Package (including a hotel-themed treat box and a Brush & Fluff at a luxury dog spa), and while on property spoil their pup with an extravagant dinner: Codfish & Caviar, giving them a taste of local seafood while in town, just like their humans get to enjoy.

Welcome Pooch to the Jungle at Mexico’s Fairmont Mayakoba

The hotel’s Petcation Package gives you and your pup a guided boat ride around the property to learn about the natural wonders of Mayakoba, followed by a magnificent meal overlooking the water canals. The Petcation includes a doggy bed, bowls, food and toys.

...And They Call it ‘Puppy Love’ at Fairmont Washington D.C., Georgetown

Dogs of guests who book the hotel’s Puppy Love Package will enjoy dog treats handmade by the hotel's pastry team, and their owners get a walking map of pet friendly places in the area, and a special pet-only do not disturb sign for the door. The hotel donates $25 for each package to Guiding Eyes for the Blind

The PAW-stegious Canine Club at Fairmont Olympic Hotel Seattle

When booking, guests can simply mention that they’re bringing along their pooch and they will automatically be welcomed to the hotel’s pup-approved Canine Club, which provides organic treats from a local pet bakery, luxurious dog beds, ceramic food and water bowls, plush pet toys, dog-walking services and more.

Pamper Your Pup at The Plaza

New York’s most famous hotel, The Plaza, has been a haven for pampered pooches since opening its doors in 1907. The Pampered Pup Package allows guests to explore the wonders of New York City with their pets while indulging in its legendary luxury of The Plaza. Furry companions will discover a plush bed awaiting them for a post travel curl-up, a doggie-treat-tier brimming with scrumptious macarons, and a refreshing bowl of Evian. Plus matching Plaza bathrobes for you and your dog!

Aloft Hotels Offer Working Dogs Free Dog Brew on International Dog Day

Another pet-friendly hotel brand, Aloft hotels is rewarding working dogs with a fun night out, just like their hard-working owners. Pet-style fun, that is. For the week of International Dog Day, working dog owners can buy one human drink and get a dog brew free.

The term ‘working’ dogs will be loosely interpreted, since all dogs always seem to have a job to do, from service therapy, military, guard dogs, providing emotional support or simply eating as many shoes as possible.

At select Aloft Hotels across the United States – including Austin, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, New York City and more – anyone visiting Aloft Hotels' hip W xyz bar with a dog (pictured above) can purchase a drink for themselves and receive a free Busch Dog Brew for their pup served in a signature Arf (Animals R Fun) dog bowl.

Throughout the year at Aloft Hotels, four legged guests are welcomed with branded dog beds, indoor water bowls, and pet toys.
